Recently we were doing some SQL Server inventory analysis and during that time one of my colleague asked how we can verify if the SQL Server installed on the machine is 32 bit or 64 bit?
It’s in fact quite easy to verify and I thought of sharing the information with my readers as well. So here we go:
First approach:
SELECT SERVERPROPERTY(‘EDITION’)
On 64 bit Enterprise SQL Server, this will give the following output:
On 32 bit Enterprise SQL Server, this will give the following output:
Notice that on 64 bit SQL Server it is explicitly mentioned along with its Edition.
Second Approach:
SELECT @@VERSION
On 64 bit SQL Server, above query will produce the below output:
On 32 bit SQL Server, above query will produce the below output:
Did you notice the difference between 32 bit SQL and 64 bit SQL? Hope now you can easily identify the servers if they are 32 or 64 bit.
